Athens Ohio Roller Derby Celebrates a Successful Season with End-of-the-Season Bash and Fundraiser

ATHENS, OH, November 8, 2023—Athens Ohio Roller Derby (AORD) is proud to announce its End-of-the-Season Bash and Fundraiser, a fun-filled event that promises to be the grand finale of an action-packed season. As we wrap up another incredible year, we invite the community to join us in celebrating the thrilling sport of roller derby and the sense of community that keeps our league rolling forward.

The End-of-the-Season Fundraiser, slated for November 18 at The Eclipse Company Store, will be a night to remember. It is an opportunity for roller derby enthusiasts, local supporters, and community members to come together, celebrate a successful year of community engagement, reflect on the season’s achievements, and contribute to the continued growth of AORD.

AORD is dedicated to not only delivering exciting roller derby action but also to serving as a pillar of strength within our community. This event serves as a way to express gratitude for the continuous support of our community and to ensure that our roller derby bouts and community outreach efforts continue to flourish.

Event Highlights:

• Raffle Baskets: Purchase raffle tickets on an array of AORD merchandise – proceeds will directly support our league’s mission and community initiatives.
• Pictures with a Bettie: Have your picture taken with your favorite skater(s) and purchase a polaroid snapshot with a unique, imprinted memory from the evening.
• Delicious Food and Beverages: Purchase (and savor) a variety of delectable dishes and refreshing craft beers at The Eclipse Company Store, one of Athens Ohio’s best kept secrets. Beautifully renovated, the Store offers upper and lower event space with a warm, inviting rustic elegance.
• Community Engagement: Connect with like-minded community members, organizations, and local leaders who share a passion for strengthening our community networks. Meet our dedicated league members and learn more about the positive impact our roller derby programs have on the community.

Athens Ohio Roller Derby (AORD) is a skater owned and operated amateur non-profit organization comprised of women+ from Athens, Ohio, and the surrounding region. We are dedicated to promoting the sport of roller derby while actively engaging with and supporting the Athens community. Through our programs, events, and outreach initiatives, we aim to inspire camaraderie and empowerment. We follow the rules and ethics set forth by the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) and our long-term goal is to achieve WFTDA certification.
