Biodynamic Gardening Series: Plant Families and Heredity
Join Lead Naturalist Lawrence Greene for our Second Session of the Biodynamic Gardening Series, a hands-on gathering where we prepare the Soil, observe seasonal rhythms, and work directly with the Land.
Guided by Rising Appalachia’s values of community, environmental stewardship, and cultural preservation, you’ll learn practical Biodynamic techniques you can use at home—while connecting with neighbors who care about the health of our Appalachian landscape. Throughout the year, we will be guided by the book, Culture and Horticulture, a philosophy of Gardening, by Wolf-Dieter Storl. Each time we gather, we will dive deeply into components of this philosophy in practical ways.
During this Second Session, timed to align with May Day, the midpoint between the Spring Equinox and Summer Solstice, we will get our hands dirty while learning about Plant Families and Heredity: what wild plants are your Garden varieties related to?
Maypole dance to follow at 4pm for anyone interested in staying to celebrate this exciting, “cross-quarter” day!
