Athens, OH ­­– On Tuesday, May 14th, Community Food Initiatives (CFI) will host their annual Plantastic Plant Start give-away at 3 different locations:

Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) at 3 Cardaras Drive, Glouster, OH from 12-1 PM

Athens County Job & Family Services at 13183 OH-13, Millfield, OH from 3-4 PM

ACEnet on 94 Columbus Road in Athens, OH from 5-7 PM

There will be thousands of plant starts available and free to the public with more variety than ever before!

Community Food Initiatives hosts seed and plant-start give-aways every year as part of their mission to increase regional food security by ensuring everyone has equal access to healthy, locally grown food. Participants of the give-away are encouraged to Grow-A-Row for the CFI Donation Station, helping feed those in need in Southeast Ohio.

The plant start give-away is supported in part by Jackson Area Ministries, Hocking College, Ohio University and Athens High School. Be sure to check transplanting information before planting your start outside! Wait until the soil temperature is high enough for your chosen plant and for the season’s last frost which could be as late as June 10^th.
