Nelsonville, OH: The League of Women Voters will host the second in a series of town hall meetings for Nelsonville residents to learn about and participate in the creation of new ward maps for the Nelsonville City Council. The meetings are open to all, because democracy works best when we all participate. This is your chance to help shape – literally! – the future of our community.
WHAT: Town Hall on Nelsonville Redistricting
WHEN: 6pm – 8pm Thursday, May 29, 2025
WHERE: Nelsonville Public Library
95 W. Washington St, Nelsonville, OH 45764
Last year, the people of Nelsonville voted to abolish the city’s charter and go back to the general statutory form of government in place until 1994, when the charter was adopted. That requires the city to be divided into four wards.
The current Council has opted to remain neutral in the ward-drawing process. To start creating these wards, the City of Nelsonville formally requested the League of Women Voters of Ohio and League of Women Voters of Athens County to convene community meetings and propose a ward map for the City of Nelsonville based on that feedback.
Help sew the fabric of our democracy! Be a part of making our government work for everyone.
