Dragon Boat Steering Clinic Comes to Marietta
June 12, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
FreeThe Gretchen Feldmaier Dragon Boat Society of the Mid-Ohio Valley (MOV’n Dragons) will host a regional clinic on June 12, at the Marietta City Harbor from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The clinic marks the first time the Eastern Regional Dragon Boat Association (ERDBA), a subsidiary of the U.S. Dragon Boat Federation, has held an event in Marietta, OH.
The clinic is designed to improve skills and safety while dragon boating. Participants will learn how to control a boat and manage the crew. They will learn techniques for steering boats during races, test their spatial awareness, and improve their ability to problem solve. People from across the northeast region — as far away as New Jersey and Kentucky — will travel to Marietta for the clinic.
“The steering clinic allows us to have exposure within the dragon boat community” said MOV’n Dragons Coach Jessica Meibers. “And also allows us to show off our amazing community here in Marietta. With the craziness of the last year, it is important to bring people together.”
Although the upcoming clinic is only for experienced paddlers, MOV’n Dragons invites the public to come watch and learn more about the sport of dragon boating. Give us a big wave as you watch from the shore and we’ll give you a vigorous paddle-wave back!
MOV’n Dragons, which is a member of the ERDBA, practices on Mondays and Thursdays beginning at 5:30 p.m. Anyone over the age of 18 is invited to come check this sport. For further information, please call MJ Ebenhack at 740-434-5638.
