Intro to Herbal Medicine-Making: Teas and Tinctures

December 2, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This class is the first of three Herbal Medicine-Making classes that will be taught by herbalist Hannah Stewart.

Hannah has five years of herbal experience, including an apprenticeship with folk herbalist Lauren Genter of Ancient Roots Botanicals, years of intensive self-study, and her current apprenticeship with clinical herbalist Caty Crabb of Wildfire Herbs and the Appalachian Ohio School of Herbal Medicine.

Each medicine-making class will be a three-hour hands-on workshop held in the performance space at ARTS/West. You will leave with a valuable handout, an herbal remedy of your own crafting to enjoy at home, and the confidence to make more products on your own.

This first class will be an in-depth introduction to the most common herbal medicine preparations–teas and tinctures. In this class, Hannah will demonstrate and explain the process of:

-drying herbs for storage
-making herbal teas
-brewing decoctions and infusions
-preparing fresh plant tinctures
-making dry plant tinctures

*Each participant will make their own dry plant tincture to take home (choose between Skullcap, Echinacea, and Milk Thistle).*

Appropriate for ages 12+!

Cost: $25-40 sliding scale, which includes the materials for your product.
