Have you always wanted to learn how to quilt? Then come join one or join all in our series of beginner’s quilting classes at Athens Makerspace!

Our talented instructor, Debbie Boggs, will guide you in turning scrap fabrics into a masterpiece to keep or give away. No prior quilting experience required.

The pattern you will learn in this class will be a crazy quilt in the line of Take ‘5’ Goes Crazy patterns, know as ‘The Teacher’s Pet.’

The pattern for the November 4th class, Intro to Quilting – Pattern TBD! will be decided by participants at this class – be sure to join us if you’d to give your input on what will be chosen!

Please plan to bring your sewing machine to this class, as well as fabrics you would like to use.

If you don’t have quilting fabric, please consider stopping next door at ReUse on Union prior to class time to choose something you love from our wide selection of quilting cottons and know you’ll be supporting a good cause!

Participants will need the following materials for a twin size quilt – Makes 20 blocks [use the best 9 or 12 blocks for a baby quilt]:

5/8 yard each of 5 fabrics you love for the block pieces
1-1/2 yards of your favorite of the 5 for the border
3/4 yard of your second favorite of the 5 for the binding
1 pack curved quilting safety pins
1 twin size batting
Walking foot – if you have one
