Introduction to Solar Electric (Photovoltaics) Workshop
October 12, 2016 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
$100You have heard about solar electricity. Perhaps you have even explored putting solar panels on your home. Or your boss wants to know if solar power will work for your company. Or you are an architect or engineer and your clients are beginning to ask questions that you don’t have the answers for (and also you need continuing education hours to renew your license). Or perhaps you are thinking of taking the 5-day certification course but are not quite sure you want to commit the time and money to make that happen. Then this one-day introduction to solar electricity may be just the course you are looking for.
This course is designed for individuals with little or no background in electricity or photovoltaics. But after attending this class you will understand:
- Basic electrical principles and concepts.
- Basic Principles and Concepts of Photovoltaics
- Photovoltaic System Components, and how to select the items that are right in a given situation
- Standard PV system configurations, and when and why to use each
- How to conduct a Site Assessment
- How to Design a Photovoltaic System
- Sizing and Selecting a Battery System
- Steps involved in System Installation
- Rules, Regulations and Paperwork Required
This is an introductory but technical course on the design and installation of solar electric systems within residential and light commercial structures. Blue Rock Station has been approved for 8 Health, Safety and Welfare (HSW) – related training hours for architects and engineers.
