Krampus Parade
December 4, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
FreeKrampus is a kind of anti-Santa. He would go around with St. Nicholas and punish the naughty children in European (mostly German and Austrian) mythology. In recent years the people of these countries have begun to have Krampus parades to ring in the holidays.
This tradition has come over to the US and has been a fun way to celebrate.
Krampusnaucht is traditionally December 5th. Athens is trying to start its own tradition on the 4th this year.
Meeting at Chosen Pathways Spiritual Emporium shop (400 E. State St. Suite A Athens) – all ages are welcome to join the fun. We will walk down the sidewalk to the light next to Donatos and cross over to the Athens Community Center. We will enjoy doughnuts with hot cocoa and cider. Then we will walk back again to chosen Pathways. Costumes are encouraged, the scarier the better – there are Krampus mask patterns for sale on Etsy. Bring your bells, drums and handheld lanterns (no flashlights, please). We will make lots of noise and have some fun bringing in the holidays in Athens. Sponsored by Chosen Pathways Spiritual Emporium and the City of Athens.
