Want to attend to a rock concert without leaving Lancaster? Playing 1970s and 80s classic rock and pop, with some jazz and standard music mixed in, the Lancaster Percussion Ensemble’s Spring Show has all the elements of a traditional rock concert. Using lights, fog and superior percussion skills, the 18-member high school group, led by longtime Lancaster City Schools Percussion Director Bruce Gerken, puts on a rock/percussion showcase that is unforgettable. Over the course of 45 years, the ensemble has received 86 superior ratings in Class A at the Ohio Music Education Solo and Ensemble Contests. The group utilizes multiple percussion instruments including drums, keyboard, piano, marimba, and timpani. Proceeds from the event support travel for the group and music development opportunities for the students. Selections to be played at this year’s performances include songs by: Journey, Mötley Crüe, Styx, Heart, Van Halen and Rush.
