Lyceum Luncheon Speaker Series – Settling Ohio in the Early Republic: A Genealogical Geography

The Southeast Ohio History Center Lyceum Speaker Series presents a program on the settlement history of early Ohio. Dr. Timothy Anderson, a historical geographer with the Ohio University Department of Geography. Anderson researches settlement geography of the U.S. with regard to the early development of cultural landscapes and regional identity with a similar focus on early Ohio settlement emphasizing sub-regional cultural landscapes. Another area of Anderson’s research focuses on Germanic Migrants and Immigrants in Ohio and their impact on landscapes and regional development patterns.
Anderson recently co-authored Settling Ohio: First Peoples and Beyond with Brian Schoen of the Ohio University Department of History.
The brown bag luncheon program is scheduled for Thursday, June 13th at 12 noon at the History Center at 24 West State Street in Athens. The Lyceum Luncheon Speaker Series is generally scheduled for the third Thursdays of the month.
