Multicultural Genealogical Center Speaker and Light Lunch

FreeMike Brandt and Clyde Mayle will talk about “Early Cutler, OH History”. Cutler is a small community in western Washington County with a history of involvement with the Underground Railroad.
Mike Brandt grew up in the Cutler area. The oldest of 9 children, he graduated from Warren High School in 1966. He went on to graduate with a Bachelor degree in education-social studies comprehensive from O.U., then spent 3 years in the Army, including a tour in Vietnam. He returned to spend 28 years teaching at Warren High School. During this time, he earned a Masters degree in History, again at O.U. His continued interest in history has led to his membership in the Washington County, Western Washington County and the Southeast OH Historical Societies along with MGC and the Cutler Heritage and Legacy Center.
Clyde Mayle graduated from Warren High School in 1967. He then earned degrees in education and administration from O.U. and the Ohio State University. He taught in the Columbus City Schools before joining the Cutler staff in 1974 where he taught 5th/6th grade, served as head teacher, assistant principal and then principal of Barlow-Vincent. In l986 he worked as Curriculum Supervisor for Washington County Schools, then in 1996 he became the Director of Pupil and Support services at Warren High School till his retirement in 2000. The Clyde Mayle Scholarship Fund was established to honor his work at Warren.
