OhioHealth UpBEAT History Group: Cherry Blossom Tour
March 9 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pmFree
The revered sakura, or cherry blossom, has been celebrated in landscapes, figure paintings and prints by artists from medieval Japan to Katsushika Hokusai and beyond. With the spring bloom of Ohio University’s iconic cherry trees approaching in the next few weeks, you are invited to embrace hanami, the traditional Japanese custom of “flower viewing,” by joining us as we go cherry blossom viewing in the museum’s Japanese art collections. Join us virtually, by telephone or computer device, or in-person as we partake in an online virtual Cherry Blossom Tour with the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art. Presented by: Dr. Yuan Liu. UpBEAT (Be Educated and Active Together) is a program for those aged 55 years and over. Membership is free. To sign up to receive our monthly UpBEAT newsletter, to learn how you can join us virtually (by phone or technology device) or RSVP for attending the program in-person (RSVP taken on first come, first serve basis as space is limited), contact Caitlin Bond, UpBEAT Program Coordinator by phone at 740-566-4680 or e-mail at Caitlin.Bond@ohiohealth.com.
