Ohio’s geologic history spans millions of years and is revealed in its rocks and sediments. These materials are a record of the complex interactions between the forces of deposition and erosion. Studying what lies beneath our feet helps us learn more about Ohio’s rich geologic history. Join us as Ohio Geological Survey geologists discuss the natural forces that shaped the Ohio we see today, ranging from tectonic events that acted on bedrock to form the Appalachian Mountains to the glaciations that once covered about three-fourths of Ohio. Andy Nash and Tyler Norris will talk about Ohio’s geology as a whole and also focus on geologic features located around Athens. RSVP is required for joining program in-person.
