The Athens County Humane Society (ACHS) has received a grant from Age Friendly Athens County to recruit foster caretakers, aged 60 and over, for cats awaiting adoption. Fosters are essential for providing temporary homes for cats and kittens . “The ‘Paws and Purrs for Seniors’ grant will enable ACHS to increase the number of cats and kittens helped this year, and perhaps for years to come. Being a foster is a great way to enjoy the companionship of one or more cats without a long term commitment, it’s also a wonderful way to get connected to others who care about animals and the important work ACHS does in our community. ACHS will hold several information sessions April through June at the Athens Public Library to recruit and train fosters for the “Paws and Purrs for Seniors” grant project: April 17th, 1-3pm; May 8th, 1-3pm; and June 13th, 1-3pm.
