Recycling Dropoff

Rural Action will hold a drop-off for difficult-to-recycle items during an open house for the new thrift store and makerspace that are opening in the former Reuse Industries space on West Union Street in Athens.
We will accept a variety of materials, including mattresses; e-waste (including electronic components); rechargeable batteries; all metal items; medical supplies and equipment (no medicine); clothing and textiles; and 30-gallon bags of trash, which will cost $3/bag.
All recyclable items collected during the event will go to local and regional businesses to be recycled or up-cycled.
This event, sponsored by Rural Action, the USDA, and Coalfield Development, is the first of several upcoming recycling events.
