The Southwestern Recovery Center in The Plains will hold a recovery and mental health awareness event Friday, October 15 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot behind the McDonalds in The Plains (80 North Plains Rd). All area resources are invited to attend and provide information that can help residents of Athens County. There will be free food, speakers, entertainment for the kids and other events as well. State Representative Jay Edwards and Sheriff Smith will be onsite to talk to the community.
