September 25, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

Hear more about the current situation in Iraq, the work of local people working for justice and peace, and how civilians are affected by Turkish and Iranian Military bombing of their villages.

Recently back from her summer in the Kurdish region of northern Iraq, Peggy will share stories of local people living in the midst of violence, struggling for justice and peaceful responses.

This presentation will be followed by a time for discussion. Light snacks will be provided.

For the past 16 years, Peggy has been doing international peacemaking and human rights work, mostly in Iraq, but also in Palestine, through the organization “Christian Peacemaking Teams.”  She has also worked in northeastern Nigeria with those affected by Boko Haram.  She has been especially interested in interfaith efforts in these countries for reconciliation and social justice.

Peggy has written two books based on her work in Iraq with the Christian Peacemaker Teams: Iraq: A Journey of Hope and Peace (2004), and Walking Through Fire: Iraqis’ Struggle for Justice and Reconciliation (2013), which will be available for purchase at the event.
