A Mason County principal has been charged with assaulting an 11-year-old boy who was allegedly shoved and pinned to the ground.

Cameron Moffett was arrested Friday in an incident that happened last month and released on $20,000 bond. He's the principal of Point Pleasant Intermediate School.

Police Chief Ernie Watterson said the boy sustained a scratch on his face.

Watterson says witness statements and security camera video were taken as evidence, but he won't release the video because it shows other juveniles who weren't involved in the incident.

Superintendent of schools Suzanne Dickens declined comment Monday, except to say an investigation is under way and Moffett is still the principal.

Directory assistance had no listing for Moffett, and it's unclear whether he has an attorney.
