For the fourth consecutive season, the Ohio Bobcats’ volleyball team was awarded with an American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award Wednesday for its efforts over the 2012-13 academic year.

Ohio had a cumulative GPA of 3.36 for the year. It was one of 130 Division-I schools to receive the honor. After the season, three players — outside hitters Chelsea Bilger and Kelly Lamberti and opposite hitter Faith Robins — earned Academic All-MAC honors, marking the seventh-straight year Ohio was represented.

The AVCA Team Academic Award began in 1992 and honors collegiate volleyball teams that excel academically over a school year. Teams must have a 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

The Bobcats face off in their annual Green & White scrimmage on Aug. 18 at 2 p.m. at the Convo. After that they head to Eugene, Ore., to kick off their season against Bryant University in the Oregon Classic Aug. 30.
