The RedStorm dropped their final regular season game to Cumberland University, 84-66, and now enter the Mid-South Conference tournament on a two-game losing streak.

Rio Grande women’s basketball clinched a tournament berth on Feb. 27 when Cumberland fell to Shawnee State.  On the same night, however, Rio Grande suffered a 110-80 setback to Lindsey Wilson.

Rio Grande falls to 18-12 overall and 7-11 in the MSC. Cumberland improves to 10-16 overall and 6-12 in the MSC.

Entering Saturday night’s game, Rio Grande had the same amount of conference wins as Bluefield College and the University of Pikeville. Bluefield fell to Campbellsville University, 69-42, and Pikeville defeated St. Catherine College, 84-62.

With those results, Rio Grande will likely end up with as the seventh or eighth seed in the MSC Tournament.
