One is all it takes, and they have beaten them before.

The Eastern Lady Eagles take on Bishop Rosecrans out of Zanesville in the Division IV State Championship at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 15.

The Eagles need just to defeat Rosecrans, whom they defeated on Dec. 28 in Reedsville by a score of 70-53.

The loss was the only one of the year for Rosecrans, who came into the tournament ranked No. 3 in the state.

Rosecrans sports a very productive lineup, with four players averaging in double digits. Senior forward Molly Nash leads the team at 17.0 points per game.

D-IV co-player of the year Jenna Burdette is coming off back-to-back performances in which she has posted a total of 75 points.  Burdette tied a state semifinal record with 38 points against Fort Loramie on Thursday night.

The trip to the ‘ship is the first for Eastern in school history. For Bishop Rosecrans, the program has a lot of history in the state tournament, and has won three state championships in six appearances all-time.

The lone Eagle loss on the year came to Huntington St. Joe’s of West Virginia, a program that has won a state championship each of the last five years.
