Athens Man Found Dead Near Parking Garage

“Nothing suggests foul play at this time,” a release from the department stated.
The investigation into Key’s death is ongoing.
ATHENS (WOUB) — An Athens man was found dead near the city’s parking garage Friday, and investigators are still looking into the cause.
The Athens Police Department responded to a report of an unconscious, unresponsive male on College Street just before 5 p.m., according to a press release sent out Friday night.
“First responders were unable to render assistance due to the extent and nature of the subject’s injuries,” the release stated. “Initial indications are that he fell from the top of the parking garage.”
Officers said the man was a 36-year-old Athens resident, but his identity is being withheld by police pending notification of his family.
The Athens County Coroner pronounced the man dead at the scene, and an investigation into the death is being conducted by APD’s Criminal Investigations Unit.
