Chillicothe Cavaliers Preview
< < Back toAfter a 4-6 overall record in his first season as Head Coach for the Chillicothe Cavaliers, Coach Ron Hinton looks to improve off last year’s progress and move closer to a Conference Championship. Although the Cavs had a record under .500, their conference record showed that they were and are more than capable of winning a title. A 4-2 conference record with wins over Portsmouth, Marietta, Gallia, and Logan solidified the team as a contender in the SEOAL.
But a slow start and a key loss to the Jackson Ironmen left the Cavs looking to next season, and improving off last season’s success. The royal blue and white will be without key contributors on offense and defense this season. The Cavs lose quarterback/defensive back, Max Corcoran, running back’s Brandon Whittaker and Casey Oates. Whittaker also played linebacker, while Oates contributed at safety. Dylan Osborne, tight end and line backer will be departing as well as offensive/defensive lineman Skyler Mallow.
All five of these players were senior captains and leaders for Chillicothe’s football program, and coach Hinton will be looking to his returning players to step up and become leaders on and off the field for the Cavs. Coach Hinton looks to improve off last year’s successes and perfect his run based offensive system that was implemented last season. A fast start to the season could get the Cavaliers moving in the right direction, and a true threat in the SEOAL conference.
