On the one year anniversary of the Athens-area tornado, Ohio University will test its outdoor emergency notification system.
The test will happen around noon on Friday, Sept. 16.
The system will broadcast a tone, followed by a pre-recorded test message over speakers located at various points on campus.
The outdoor notification system is tested periodically to make sure it is working right and to make students and faculty aware of how it works.
Last September 16, a tornado hit The Plains near Athens leaving behind a path of destruction.
There was no damage on campus.
