The Federal Hocking Lancers were looking for their first win of the season when they hosted the Southern Tornadoes in a loaded night of football.  Neither team was able to get in any kind of rhythm as it was a back and forth game for most of the first quarter until the cold streak was broken when Southern’s Tyler Bartin punched in a 1 yard touchdown run. The extra point was blocked and Southern led 6-0 at halftime.

Federal Hocking answered with a touchdown of their own in the second half with Delbert Crum’s 35 yard touchdown run to tie it at 6.  Federal Hocking had a couple of nice sacks giving the Lancer offense good field position. Quarterback Kyle Jackson scored the game winning touchdown late in the second half to give Federal Hocking the win 18-12. It was a great first win for first year head coach Doug Miller.
Pete Gelbert had 32 carries and 146 yards for the Lancers. Federal Hocking had 221 yards in the second half and outscored the Tornadoes 18-6 in the second half and really dominated play from the start of the third quarter.
Federal Hocking improves to 1-3 and will look to build momentum when they host Belpre next week. Southern falls to 1-3 and will look to right the ship in Meigs next Friday.
