One westbound lane of Interstate 70 is closed in Guernsey County today after a fiery crash last (Monday) night.

Sergeant Mark Glennon says at around 11:30 p.m., Jose Briones of Eagle Pass, Texas, drifted off the road in his tractor-trailer.

Briones continued to go through a guard rail and struck a bridge and then landed upside down on the road below, catching fire.

It happened between Old Washington and Quaker City.

Briones was transported by United Ambulance to Southeastern Ohio Medical Center and is being treated for a broken leg.

Glennon says no drugs or alcohol were involved, but Briones was given a citation for failure to control.

The Ohio Department of Transportation is currently assessing damage to the bridge.

ODOT plans to reopen the lane when they believe it is ready.
