Preview and look back at the TVC-Ohio.

1a. Athens: Call Athens 1a and Nelsonville-York 1b for the TVC-Ohio. Why do the Bulldogs get the A and the Buckeyes the B? Against Meigs, the Buckeyes went into halftime tied, and the final score, 41-14 did not tell you how close it was. Against Athens, the Marauders were crushed 56-9.

1b. Nelsonville-York: The Buckeyes stared down the barrel of their first legitimate test at the end of the first half against Meigs. They roared back in the second half with great defense and timely plays by Kyle Freer, Nathan Dean, Daniel Kline and, of course, Dustin Young.

3. Wellston: The first big upset of the TVC-Ohio season goes to the Rockets as they exposed the Spartans heretofore weak schedule and upset the Spartans in Albany. Wellston still has a shot to make some noise in the Ohio, with home games against Meigs and, crucially, Athens in weeks eight and nine left to go.

4. Alexander: The Spartans relatively easy path through the first six games (their opponents combined for a miserable 7-35 record) came back to haunt them as the Rockets took the Spartans hopes of an undefeated season away from them. But this ranking comes with a caveat: they can still win the TVC-Ohio outright, and gain major playoff points,  as they face Athens at Athens and then host Nelsonville-York in week eight's game of the week and a big showdown in week nine.

5. Meigs: It is a testament to how close the TVC-Ohio is that Meigs is fifth on our list. They gave Nelsonville-York all they could handle, including completely shutting down Dustin Young in the first three quarters before ill-timed penalties and turnovers cost them the game. But Meigs is not that far out of playoff contention (11th, less than two playoff points out of the 8th seed), and if they win out, they have a serious shot for a playoff berth in Division 4, Region 15.

6. Vinton-County: It's been a tough season with a tough schedule for the Vikings. Having faced four undefeated or one loss teams (Jackson, Point Pleasant (WV), Alexander and Athens) things aren't looking any easier for the Vikings as they have to travel to Nelsonville-York, Meigs and then host Wellston for the season finale.

Standings:

T-1. Athens (7-0, 2-0)

T-1. Nelsonville York (7-0, 2-0)

T-3. Alexander (6-1, 1-1)

T-3. Wellston (4-3, 1-1)

t5. Meigs (4-3, 0-2)

t5. Vinton County (1-6, 0-2)
