Bond has been set at $200,000 for a Gallipolis man accused of raping an Ohio University student.
Levi Canterbury, 21, appeared in Athens Municipal Court this morning.
Prosecutors say Canterbury picked up a female OU student in Athens in September and drove her to a parking lot, raped her in his car, and then dropped her off near College Gate.
He was arrested Friday in Texas.
Canterbury was transported back to Ohio yesterday by the Ohio University Police Department and is being held in the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail.
Investigators say they located Canterbury through his National Guard unit in Texas.
Prosecutor Keller Blackburn says they were able to link Canterbury to the crime because he called police the night of the attack and made a "false statement" about the incident.
