Swimming/Diving: Ohio wins the weekend
< < Back toThe Bobcats are 2-0 after their opening weekend, defeating both Bowling Green State University (168-121) on Friday and Eastern Michigan University (151-149) on Saturday.
The Bobcats had a strong start, with a first place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. Swimmers Rachel Stearns, Tori Bagan, Amanda Cecere, and Abby Corcoran finished the relay in 1:44.92, defeating the second place Eastern Michigan team by more than 2.5 seconds. Sophomore Rachel Stearns gave the team two additional first place finishes in the 100- and 200-meter backstroke, as well as leading off the winning relay.
Other first place finishes for the team included Emma Micheals in the 200 Freestyle, Rachel Stearns in the 100 Backstroke, Tori Bagan in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 Backstroke.
The close finish between Eastern Michigan and Ohio was the result of a number of close finishes in the individual races. In the 100 Freestyle, less than half of a second separated freshman Sara Ghaffari of Eastern Michigan who took first in the event, and Ohio senior Abby Corcoran.
Ohio will host its next conference meet against Buffalo next Saturday, November 5.
