Nelsonville-York claws past Tomcats for second straight win
< < Back toAfter trailing by three at halftime, Nelsonville-York used an 8-0 third quarter run to take a 26-21 lead and would hold on to defeat the Trimble Tomcats 50-44 in Glouster.
Trimble was unable to overcome their 18 turnovers and as the game became more physical, the Tomcats struggled to keep possession. The Buckeyes dominated nearly every statistical category, most notably on the offensive glass, grabbing 24 rebounds and were able to control the pace in the second half.
“We had enough success at the right time of picking it up that we were able to come out with the win,” said Nelsonville-York coach Jay Kline.
Daniel Kline led the Buckeyes in scoring with 13 points and added 12 rebounds while guards Jacob Blake and Austin North added a combined 19 points to the balanced scoring attack.
Konnor Standley paced the Tomcats offense with 14 points while Cyrus Jones contributed 13 points, but also turned it over 7 times.
The Tomcats (0-3) were searching for their first win of the season and will continue their quest when they host Belpre on December 13th.
After starting the season 0-2 the Buckeyes (2-2) have rallied for back-to-back wins and will return to Buchtel for a pivotal TVC-Ohio game against Vinton County on December 13th.
