< < Back toA regional health system wants to make people in Appalachia more aware of clinical cancer studies in the area.
Adena Health System is working with Ohio State University to develop better methods for telling people about the trials.
Lead researcher Dr. Janice Krieger says enrollment rates in Appalachia are typically lower than elsewhere in the country.
According to the researcher, this is the first study to target the issue in Appalachian Ohio.
The study is aimed at cancer patients in the Adena Health System and the Memorial Health System, where clinical trials are already offered.
Researchers will interview 120 cancer patients, as well as their family members and friends.
