Washington Co. Suspect Charged With Aggravated Murder
< < Back to washington-co-suspect-charged-aggravated-murderA homicide suspect who led Washington County sheriff's deputies on a manhunt last week is scheduled for a preliminary hearing tomorrow afternoon.
Steven Leonhart, 35, was arrested on suspicion of murder at his home on Collins Road in Whipple around 9 o'clock Thursday morning.
Officers had been looking for Leonhart after responding to a homicide call earlier that morning on Caywood Road outside Marietta. Marietta City Schools spent the morning under a lockdown while officers searched for Leonhart.
Sheriff Larry Mincks identified the victim as Williard Baker.
Leonhart was arraigned Friday on charges of aggravated murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, felonious assult, and aggravated burglary.
He is currently being held at the Washington County Jail on $1.4 million bail. A preliminary hearing is set for 3:30 p.m.
