A Marietta man is sentenced to life in prison in connection with a Washington County murder.

Steven Leonhart received lifetime in prison with the chance of parole after 52 years from Washington County Judge Susan Boyer on Thursday.

In August, the 36-year-old pleaded guilty to the murder of Willard Baker.

Baker was killed by a gunshot wound to the side.

The incident occurred on January 12 in Baker's Caywood Road residence in Marietta.

It led to a man hunt in Marietta and a two hour lockdown of Marietta City Schools.

In addition to aggravated murder, Leonhart was convicted of gun specification, aggravated burglary, and felonious assault.

Prosecutors chose not to look for the death penalty, citing Leonhart's lack of prior trouble with the law.
