Prescription Drug “Tourist” Sentenced To Prison Time
< < Back toThe leader of an Ohio-Florida drug trafficking ring was sentenced in Jackson County Common Pleas Court today to nearly five years in state prison.
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine says Shawn Sherrin, of Whitehall, was part of a "prescription tourism operation", transporting drugs from Florida pill mills to places such as Jackson County. DeWine says each of the "tourists" would receive multiple prescriptions from the same Florida doctor and fill them at the same Florida pharmacy.
The street value for the drugs for a single trip to Florida was more than $50,000.
Sherrin was also ordered to forfeit cash from the drug trafficking, along with his vehicle.
Peter Harris and Amanda Arroyo, both of Jackson, and Sam Sherrin, of Whitehall, were sentenced on drug-related charges last year.
