Southeast Ohio community leaders will gather at Zane State College today to discuss energy and economic development.

Business leaders, chamber members, local government officials, colleges and universities, and oil and gas companies representatives in seven counties are slated to attend the E3D Summit.

Zane State College President Paul Brown says the summit will feature discussions about creating a progressive Appalachian Ohio. "By Progressive Appalachian, we mean turning Appalachia, the Appalachian part of the state of Ohio into a significant economic asset for the state through the energy industry," said Brown.

Brown says he hopes the summit will initiate plans for a high-tech business cooridor in Southeast Ohio and foster collaboration between communities in the region.

Brown says the goal is to use the gas and oil industry to help create a self-sustaining economic climate in the area in other industries.
