Football: Brazill Shows Off Speed At NFL Combine
< < Back to football-brazill-shows-speed-nfl-combineThe NFL Combine dubs itself as "the toughest job interview on the planet." If that's the case, former Ohio wide receiver LaVon Brazill can expect a call back.
Brazill participated in three events on Sunday in Indianapolis: the 40-yard dash, bench press, and vertical jump. Brazill turned in an impressive and surprising 40-yard dash time of 4.48 seconds, the 14th fastest time by a wideout at the combine and the fastest time turned in by a MAC receiver. He is still recovering from a Dec. 20 surgery to repair a slightly torn meniscus in his right knee and said before the combine his decision to run at the combine would be based on the health of his knee.
The numbers say it's doing fine.
The former Bobcat also put up 11 reps on the 225 pound bench press test (tied 33rd among WRs) and recorded a vertical jump of 32.5" (36th best among WRs).
NFL draft analyst Dion Caputi tweeted that Brazill was one of the combine's winners.
"WR LaVon Brazill is a half-sleeper who measured in better than expected at 5'11" 192 lbs. & ran 4.45. Quick-cut runner + nice hands."- (@nfldraftupdate)
Brazill is projected to be a sixth or seventh round pick, but his performance at Sunday's NFL Combine certainly has his stock trending upward. Next up for Brazill will be his Pro Day in Athens, which will be held some time in March or early April.
