Senate President Supports Romney
< < Back toThe Republican leader of the Ohio Senate has thrown his support behind GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney.
Senate President Tom Niehaus said in a statement on Monday that he's backing Romney because he is a "true outsider" who's spent much time in the private sector. Niehaus, who's from New Richmond, said he believe Romney is best positioned to bring jobs to the state.
Romney said in a statement that he's proud to have the backing of the state senator and looks forward to him helping to spread his message to Ohio voters.
The latest Ohio Republican presidential race poll shows the former Massachusetts governor is running behind Rick Santorum – 29 percent to Santorum's 36 percent among likely primary voters.
