The race between Democrats Charlie Adkins and Gary Edwards was a close call, with unofficial winner Adkins taking 51 percent of the vote and Edwards receiving 49 percent.
Democrat Chris Chmiel took the other county commissioners race with 31 percent of the vote, unseating incumbent Mark Sullivan and upsetting Paul Barrett, Robert Baughman, and Mike O'Brien.
In the race for Athens County engineer, Democrat Jeff Maiden took the nomination from incumbent Archie Stanley. Maiden received 83 percent of the vote, with Stanley taking 17 percent. There is no Republican candidate for the general election at this time.
The Athens County EMS levy for 1 mill over 5 years passed with 67 percent yes votes and 33 percent voting no.
The Athens County Commissioner race is currently lead by Charlie Adkins with 54 percent of the votes over Gary Edwards with 46 percent of the votes.
Ten of 56 precincts are reporting numbers.
The winner of this race will face Republican incumbent Larry Payne in the general election.
