Boulder Cleanup Efforts Still Underway< < Back to
Clean up work on Fort Street in Athens where a huge boulder smashed into a house last week is still underway.
The 25-foot rock has been broken into smaller pieces. The rubble is being used as stabilization material on the sides of the road.
The Department of Engineering and Public Works director Andy Stone says part of the remaining rocks will be used to reconstruct the toe of the slope where the boulder came down.
The city is evaluating the danger of the rocks nearby. Stone says he believes there is a threat of another rockslide.
