Gov. Kasich To Sign Executive Order On Creation Of Human Trafficking Task Force
< < Back to gov-kasich-sign-executive-order-creation-human-trafficking-task-forceGov. Kasich will sign an Executive Order tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. to establish the Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force to combat human trafficking.
"[Human trafficking] is one of [the governor's] top priorites right now. First of all, very few people even recognize that this is a problem going on in the state. He is committed to it and we are going to employ every state resource not only to stop trafficking, but also to help every victim that we can help," said Rob Nichols, press secretary for Gov. Kasich.
The governor's office declined to provide specific details about the Executive Order.
Nichols says the governor believes that human trafficking in the state is not being addressed quickly enough.
In December 2010, Ohio became the 45th state to make human trafficking a criminal offense.
