State Park Group To Document Historical Sites

Strouds Run State Park in Athens is home to several geological and archaeological sites.
Friends of Strouds Run State Park is conducting a survey to document them.
The volunteer group says they already know of three or four Indian mounds, several family cemeteries, and two bridges built in the 1920s.
President of the Friends of Strouds Run State Park David Reiser says he anticipates the survey will uncover more sites.
"We've all been aware that there are, of course, individual historical sites located in the park and we really felt that 2,600 acres could hold a whole lot more," said Reiser.
Reiser says the group is doing this project for the people who would find these sites of interest.
"Right now, people go to the park and they look at wildflowers and they go fishing and this would add a whole dimension to it," said Reiser.
The project began in January and is expected to take one year.
