Police Chief Upset Not Notified About Ohio Patient
< < Back to police-chief-upset-not-notified-about-ohio-patientAn Ohio police chief says he's upset he hadn't been notified that a man charged with attempted murder was staying at a neighborhood nursing home.
Authorities say 53-year-old John Stroud of Portsmouth broke a window Thursday morning and escaped from the facility in Heath, about 35 miles east of Columbus. Police found him Thursday night about two miles away after receiving a call about a prowler.
Heath Police Chief Tony Shepherd said Friday that Stroud was ordered to stay at the Heath Nursing Care Center when released on bond.
Shepherd said the nursing home is about a block from an elementary school.
Last year, Stroud pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in Scioto County to attempted murder, felonious assault and misdemeanor inducing panic.
