Volunteers will target locations in Meigs and Hocking Counties as a part of the annual Ohio River Sweep next week.

The cleanup will take place June 16.

Members of the Leading Creek Watershed Group are sponsoring locations in Pomeroy, Racine, and Syracuse.

Leading Creek Watershed Coordinator Raina Fulks says they expect a similar volunteer turnout to previous years.

"We typically have somewhere around 100 people that come to the cleanup in Meigs County."

Fulks says volunteers in Meigs County can meet at the three different locations to participate.

Friends of the Hocking River are sponsoring the cleanup of the Hocking in Logan on the same day.

The Hocking River is one of the tributaries to the Ohio River.

The cleanups in Meigs and Hocking Counties are part of a larger annual Ohio River Sweep that stretches from Pittsburgh to Cairo, IL.
