Blennerhassett Island Deer Hunt Set For November
< < Back toThe West Virginia Division of Natural Resources will conduct a controlled deer hunt on Blennerhassett Island near Parkersburg on Nov. 5 and 8.
DNR Director Frank Jezioro says the hunt is needed to keep the deer population in balance with habitat conditions on the Ohio River island.
Blennerhassett's deer population gets much higher than on the mainland because the island isn't part of the state's regular hunting season.
Applications for permits must be submitted by mail.
They can be obtained online or through Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park, the DNR's headquarters and district offices, and state park and forest offices.
About 50 hunters for each day will be randomly selected for the hunt.
