Athens Housing Project Gets Public Hearing
< < Back toAthens Mayor Paul Wiehl says attendance was light today for a public hearing for the proposed Madison Heights project.
But Wiehl says there was quite a bit of discussion by members of the City Planning Commission, which hosted the hearing.
They are concerned about traffic flow into and out of the site at the intersection of East State Street and Madison Avenue.
"Some of the discussion had to do with the line of sight concerning the entrance of Madison onto East State Street," he says.
No action was taken by the Planning Commission.
The Madison Heights Subdivision is proposed for a roughly two acre site where the Athens Flower Shop is now located.
The developer is Diversified Properties, which has submitted plans for construction of seven houses.
The plans list the estimated cost at $1,750,000.
