Trimble Unleashes Fury Against South Gallia
< < Back to
South Gallia came into tonight’s game looking for revenge, and trying to protect their home turf. That was not the case as the Tomcats of Trimble rolled over the Rebels by a final score of 74-6. The Tomcats had a plethora of players step up tonight in their big TVC-Hocking win.
On the Tomcats first drive Konner Standley rushed for over 30 yards, before throwing an interception. With that pick, the Rebels started on their own 6-yard line. However, the Tomcats defense stepped up and forced a South Gallia safety. Once Trimble scored those two points, they never looked back. On the punt Trimble, Bryce Smathers, took it to the house for a touchdown to put the Tomcats up 9-0.
Nothing was going right for the Rebels as they were swamped with penalties. After the touchdown run for Smathers, South Gallia had back-to-back false starts. They then proceed to go 4-and-out, forcing to punt again to Smathers who scored another touchdown. By the end of the first quarter the Trimble Tomcats had a commanding lead 23-0. It seemed as though the lead was too much for the Rebels to overcome. The Tomcats were up 37-0 at the half.
Tomcat quarterback, Konner Standley, finished with a total of 181 yards, 114 rushing yards, and 67 passing yards with one interception. Smathers lead the Tomcats with 74 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Although the offense put up a whopping 74 points, the defense was the hidden hero in tonight’s game, holding the Rebels to only six points.
South Gallia quarterback, Landon Hutchinson, was 5-for-15 with 28 passing yards and one interception. He also added 13 carries for 54 yards.
Next week both teams will be playing on their home fields. Meigs will play at Trimble, and Miller will be at South Gallia.
