Ohio Names New Associate AD for Business Operations
< < Back toOhio Athletic Director Jim Schaus announced Tuesday that the school has named Tim Knavel its new Associate Athletic Director for Business Operations. Under his new position, Knavel will serve as the Chief Financial Officer for Ohio Athletics.
Knavel comes to Ohio after serving under the same position at Towson University in Baltimore, Md. During his tenure at Towson, Knavel oversaw the Tigers' athletic budget, and the department never opperated in debt. Knavel was hired by Towson in 1996 to serve as Athletics Business Manager; in 2001 he was promoted to Associate AD for Business. Knavel spent 16 years with Towson before being hired by Ohio.
Knavel brings 29 years of experience in finance to the Bobcats' Athletic Department. Prior to Towson, Knavel worked in accounting for 16 years in association with Marriott International Inc. Knavel began his career as a staff acountant in the company's Procesing Center before being promoted to senior accountant. After six years in the Processing Center, he worked in the company's Conference Center at various locations throughout the Northeast region.
Knavel is originally from Buffalo and he graduated in 1983 from Niagara University with a BBA in Accounting.
