Brittany Walker, Ohio’s sophomore goalkeeper, was named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week by the league offices today.
This marks the first time Walker has won the award, she earned it after only allowing one goal against Ohio State and Robert Morris last week.
Walker recorded eight saves against Ohio State and had two crucial stops in the shootout. She shut out Robert Morris.
She has the best goals against average in the MAC, allowing 1.53 goals per game. She is also second in the MAC with a .745 save percentage.
So far this season, Walker, Taylor Brown and Luli Gomez Teruel have all won week weekly MAC awards for the Bobcats.
The Bobcats open MAC play this week as they travel to Kent State on Friday. Ohio then has a big non-conference game against the No. 10 Northwestern Wildcats on Sunday at noon.
