Parkersburg Police Open Substation To Quell Crime
< < Back toParkersburg Police are expanding their operations by opening a new substation in the city's north side.
The department announced the new facility Monday.
The new substation is the department's second.
It is located on the corner of 13th Street and Avery Street, a place police say has an "unacceptable level of criminal activity."
"It's no secret that crime is prevalent there, especially in regards to petty crimes and it frustrates us, but given the number of officers we have to tend to the number of calls we have, sometimes the smaller things have to wait," says Sgt. Greg Collins.
The substation is funded through a Community Development Block Grant.
It is the second such facility in Parkersburg.
The other substation is located at City Park.
The same officer will staff both during regular business hours.
